What does DOMIQ DALI Light enable?
DOMIQ DALI Light allows you to integrate DALI lighting into the shared DOMIQ automation system. This allows you to not only control lighting but also connect it to sensors, alarm systems, schedulers, and other DOMIQ-integrated systems.
The module enables, among others:
DOMIQ Light in DALI installations
DOMIQ DALI Light will work well in both smaller installations and extensive lighting systems in offices, service facilities, public buildings and halls.
One DOMIQ DALI Light module supports a single DALI segment with up to 64 addressable DALI actuators, such as LED drivers. The installation can be expanded to 21 segments, supporting a total of 1,344 DALI actuator addresses.
DALI enables digital, two-way communication—devices can not only receive commands but also transmit information about their status. The standard allows, among other things, for querying devices for their current output level and fault information.
DALI as part of the overall building automation
DOMIQ DALI Light doesn’t operate as an isolated lighting controller. DALI becomes part of the logic of the entire DOMIQ system.
This allows the lighting to respond to events from other systems, such as motion sensors, the alarm system, LCN, KNX, or schedules. A single event can simultaneously control DALI lighting and other building automation components.
Large scale installations
DOMIQ Base and DOMIQ DALI Light modules enable the creation of an excellent automation control system for office buildings, which can be offered at a very attractive price. A typical control system for a multi-story building consists of the following components:
1 × DOMIQ Base 2.0
A single central unit managing the logic of the entire installation.
1 × DOMIQ Light → up to 64 DALI addresses
2 × DOMIQ Light → up to 128 DALI addresses
3 × DOMIQ Light → up to 192 DALI addresses
…
21 × DOMIQ Light → up to 1344 DALI addresses
Each subsequent DOMIQ Light module creates an independent DALI segment, but all segments remain part of a single DOMIQ system. You can control them independently or create a building-wide logic.
DALI lighting can interface with other DOMIQ-integrated systems and protocols, including KNX, LCN, Modbus, BACnet, DMX, and the SATEL alarm system. This allows events in one installation to automatically trigger a response in others.
Configuration
You configure DOMIQ DALI Light directly from the DOMIQ Base 2.0 interface. From one place, you can manage DALI devices, address them, and configure groups and lighting scenes.
A detailed description of the configuration process can be found in the DOMIQ Base manual.

System provisioning and addressing
The module implements an automatic ballast addressing algorithm. Each DALI segment is an independent element of the lighting system and is addressed separately. Within one segment, up to 64 ballasts can be automatically addressed, and when the system is expanded with additional segments, the addressing process is carried out separately for each of them.
The module’s configuration interface also allows for manual addressing of individual ballasts. DOMIQ DALI Light also automatically detects the connection of a new ballast to an existing installation, provided it has a previously assigned address. It is also possible to address newly connected ballasts without disturbing the existing addressing in a given segment.
The entire system can support up to 21 independent segments, i.e. a total of up to 1,344 DALI ballasts.
Groups and scenes
DOMIQ Light supports groups and scenes in accordance with the DALI standard. Each actuator can belong to any combination of 16 groups and store settings for 16 lighting scenes. This allows the installation to be easily divided into zones and create ready-made lighting settings for various situations.
DOMIQ Light Next
For expanding an existing DOMIQ installation with an additional DALI segment. The module price includes a startup license enabling it to operate as an additional segment with the specified DOMIQ Base 2.0.
Important: The license is tied to a specific installation. If the module is moved to an installation with a different DOMIQ Base 2.0, it is necessary to reprogram the module and purchase a new runtime license.
My installation will have more than 64 DALI ballasts. How many DOMIQ LIGHT modules do I need?
One DOMIQ LIGHT module supports up to 64 DALI ballasts. If the installation is larger, add another LIGHT module for each additional ballast, up to a maximum of 64.
For example:
Each subsequent DOMIQ LIGHT includes in the price a runtime license necessary to operate as an additional segment.
I’m expanding my existing installation beyond 64 DALI ballasts. What else do I need to buy?
You must purchase another DOMIQ LIGHT. The module creates an additional segment supporting up to 64 additional DALI ballasts, and its price includes the required startup license.
I already have a DOMIQ LIGHT module and would like to use it as an additional segment. Is this possible?
Yes. An existing DOMIQ LIGHT module can be used as an additional segment, but requires:
After completing these steps, the module can work as another segment of the DALI installation.
I bought another DOMIQ Light. Do I need to purchase an additional license?
No. The runtime license for the specified installation is already included in the price of the DOMIQ DALI Light module.
A separate license purchase is required when:
In both cases, it is also necessary to reprogram the module accordingly.
