Chapter 4.1 – The Settings Tab in the DOMIQ Configurator

The Settings tab lets you configure the module’s basic operating parameters. All changes made in the Settings tab are stored locally in the browser and have no effect on the operation of the DOMIQ system. Only pressing the Save button saves the changes to the DOMIQ/Base 2.0 module.
Changes made in the Settings tab only take effect after the Base module is restarted.
The Restore button resets the contents of the Settings tab to the state currently saved in the module.
The Settings tab is divided into three parts:

  1. General Settings
  2. Network Settings
  3. App Pairing

1. General Settings
#

The following options are available:

  1. Name – The DOMIQ/Base module identifier, displayed on the module selection screen in the Remote app. Default value: DOMIQ
  2. System:
    • Restart – A button that initiates a restart of the Base module.
    • Factory Settings – A button that initiates the procedure for restoring the Base module to its factory settings. Before starting this procedure, remember to copy any unique keys assigned to the module, e.g. keys for BACnet, IFTTT, and others, as they will be deleted when the module is restored to factory settings. Using this option will also delete non-volatile MEM variables.
Additional mobile app licenses assigned to the Base module are not deleted.
    • Updates – Clicking this button displays a window that lets you update the Base module’s software as well as that of any peripheral devices connected to it. The Module column shows the names of the software components.
      • Module column shows the names of the software components.
The Current version column shows the currently installed software version.
      • The Available version column shows the latest software version available on DOMIQ’s servers. If the Available version column is empty, this may indicate a lack of Internet access (often a sign of incorrect DNS settings when network settings are configured manually).
      • Outdated software components are selected by default. To start the update, click the Update selected button. After an automatic update, the module will restart on its own.
      • The Base module can also be updated manually (e.g. for installations where the module isn’t connected to the Internet). In that case, download the update files, along with their associated update keys, from the DOMIQ website. Paste the key into the field below the table, then load the update file by clicking the Load button. After a manual update, a manual restart of the module is also required.
    • Date and time – A window that lets you set the current date and time on the Base module. If the Base module is connected to the Internet, the date and time are set automatically.
  3. Configuration backup:
    • Save to file – Creates a backup of the configuration. Remember to create a backup every time you make significant changes to the installation.
    • Restore from file – Lets you restore the configuration from a previously created backup.
  4. Lokalizacja – w polach formularza należy uzupełnić dane geolokalizacyjne budynku oraz wybrać z listy strefę czasową. Uzupełnienie tych ustawień jest niezbędne do prawidłowego działania zegara
    astronomicznego.

2. Network Settings #

  1. Control via Internet – Enabling this option is required for remote control using the mobile app to be possible. Enabling this option is also required in order to receive push notifications sent by the Base module. If this option is enabled, remote connections are relayed through the DOMIQ server (recommended).
Note! If you want to bypass the DOMIQ server for remote connections, you’ll need to configure the connection manually in the mobile app (not recommended). In that case, you must have a fixed IP address under which the Base module is accessible, and you must also forward the following ports:
TCP 4556 for the DOMIQ/Remote app on iOS
UDP 44544 for DOMIQ/Remote on Android.
  2. Hidden – Enabling this option means the Base module will not be discovered by the mobile app.
  3. DHCP: If this option is checked, DOMIQ/Base will attempt to automatically obtain IP settings from a DHCP server (usually the router acts as the DHCP server). With this option selected, the IP address will be assigned automatically. We recommend using the DHCP option. It’s also good practice to manually assign an IP address in the router’s settings based on the Base module’s MAC address. This helps avoid network setting issues if the router and/or other elements of the network architecture are replaced. The next three fields can only be edited if the DHCP option is disabled.
    • IP address: The fixed IP address assigned to the DOMIQ/Base module on the LAN. For a static IP address, we also recommend reserving this address in the router’s settings – this is a way to avoid IP addressing conflicts.
    • Subnet mask: The IP subnet mask.
    • Gateway: The IP address of the device serving as the entry point to a given part of the network (usually the router’s/switch’s IP address).
    • Primary DNS: The IP address of the primary name server.
    • Secondary DNS: The IP address of the secondary name server.
    • Primary SNTP: The IP address of the primary internet time server.
    • Secondary SNTP: The IP address of the secondary internet time server.
    • Web port: The port number on the DOMIQ/Base module on which the web server providing the configuration interface runs. Default value: 80
    • PCK port: The port used for communication between the LCN Pro app and the DOMIQ/Base module. Default value: 4114

After changing the network settings, the module must be restarted.

NOTE! If incorrect network settings are entered, the module may become unreachable (both the configuration interface and app-based control). To temporarily set the module to obtain an address via DHCP, follow the procedure below:

  1. Disconnect the Base module from power.
  2. Place a jumper on the ISP connector as shown in the figure below.

  3. Connect the power (with the jumper in place).
  4. The Base module will receive an address from the DHCP pool. Wait about 2 minutes for the Base module to fully start up, then log in to the configuration interface, enter the correct network settings, and save the Settings tab.
  5. Disconnect the power.
  6. Remove the jumper.
  7. Restart the module.

3. App Pairing
#

Pairing the apps used to control the installation is one of the first steps to take after starting up the Base module.
The DOMIQ system can be controlled by the following app:

  • DOMIQ/Remote – an app for mobile devices running iOS (Apple) or Android.

The procedure for pairing the app with the Base module is as follows:

  1. The device with the app installed must be on the same local network as the Base module.
For security reasons, it is not possible to pair a device from outside the local network!
  2. Launch the app.
  3. By default, the app displays a view of the discovered/paired Base modules. Modules are searched for automatically.
  4. Tap the name of the Base module you want to pair.
  5. A screen will be displayed with a field for entering a one-time, 4-digit pairing code. To generate the code, click the Generate code button in the Settings tab.
The code is valid for only 15 minutes.
  6. After entering the code, the app will automatically complete the pairing process.
Connections (both local and remote) between the app and the Base module are encrypted.

3.1. App Authorizations
#

This window is used to manage authorizations for apps paired with the Base module. The window contains the following information:

  1. The Base module’s serial number. This number is required when ordering additional pairing licenses for the app. To purchase additional licenses, please contact us at: info@domiq.pl.
Be sure to include the DOMIQ/Base module’s serial number in your email.
  2. The table displays information about devices paired with the Base module.
  3. The Name column shows the paired device’s name.
  4. The ID column shows the paired device’s unique identifier.
  5. In the Description column, you can enter a description to help you identify the device. This is especially useful when creating user profiles.
  6. The Added column shows the date the device was paired.
  7. The Action column contains Delete buttons, which let you unpair an individual device.
  8. The Delete all devices button removes all pairings and forces the Base module to reconnect to the DOMIQ server.
  9. The number of available free licenses for the app. The DOMIQ/Base 2.0 module is sold by default with
    one access license.
  10. A field for entering the authorization key for any additional access licenses you’ve purchased.

3.2. User Profiles #

User profiles are used to control the visibility of the menu structure displayed in the DOMIQ/Remote app. This lets you easily restrict access to specific elements for selected DOMIQ system users.

Note: Saving profiles will delete any unsaved changes in the Remote tab!

Creating a user profile works as follows:

  1. Add a new profile by clicking the Add button.
  2. Fill in its name. The name must be unique among all profiles.
  3. Select the devices to be assigned to this profile. The table on the right shows the names of paired devices based on the Name column, or the Description column (if one has been provided).
